Pangong Tso Lake
Pangong Lake is an amazing and beautiful pure salt water lake. Surrounded by the Karakoram Mountains is the world’s highest salt water lake at an altitude of 4,350 meters. The water in the lake is blue in colour and completely transparent. It is spread around 160 km between the mountains. This lake occupies only one of the three parts of India. The other two parts are in China.
The name of the lake is based on the Tibetan word “Pangong Tso” which means lake of high grasslands. Here you can meditate for hours in a peaceful atmosphere. The beauty of this clear water lake amidst the highest mountains cannot be described in words but can only be seen and felt.
